Colors and Styles of Graduation Gowns and Accessories

Ancient universities at one time used to have a very strict dress code for their students and faculty. One of the main ones being that they had to wear a robe over their clothing every day and these robes ranged from solid black to more elaborate robes such as robes that were decorated with gold trimmings.
